Hey all,
I have been reading many articles and news feeds ever since the news broke that Mike Tyson was getting his own show on animal planet about pigeon racing and I have noticed that some people have been bad mouthing the sport, pigeons and fanciers not to name names (PETA). They have been saying all sorts of things like pigeons are dirty, fanciers mistreat their birds, animal cruelty and so on and so forth. It’s obvious to me that they don’t know this sport and hobby at all nor do they know us fanciers.
So I figured who better to clear our name then US! we have a great group of fanciers here on the www.pigeonracingpigeon.com blog. So post your comments below and tell the rest of the world what pigeon racing really is all about and who we fanciers really are. Tell them how much you love your pigeons and how pigeon racing is a wholesome hobby that involves the entire family, promotes bonding and responsibility just to name a few.
So go ahead and post your comments here and let’s set them straight.

It never ceases to amaze me just how stupid humans can be some time. Just why any organization would make unfounded comments concerning something they know nothing about is just plain stupid. You would think ( peta ) would do a bit of checking before they would insert leg in mouth, not just foot. Most of the fliers I know not only feed their birds a better diet than they themselves have, they also take better care of the lofts verses homes lol. Peta just looks for the headlines, and has little knowledge about what they are talkingor complaining about……….again STUPID HUMANS. Sometimes you just want to ignore someones stupid children.
At 54 years old Im a novice at pigeons but have just built my first loft. I have 7 young birds and 2 breeding pairs. Everyone I have come into contact with regarding pigeon racing and breeding is pashionate about their birds and the sport. The advice i have been given is take care of your birds well and they will perform for you. There is alot to learn and I spend every minute I have learning about and caring for my birds. I am an avid animal lover and would not of got into this sport if I thought it was cruel in any way. People should find out abit about pigeon fanciers and their sport before judging them and I dont mean from people like PETA. I have been given so much great advice and support I dont understand why more people arnt involved in the sport.
I am a father, a working class guy, a truck driver, fisherman. Someone who cares for this place, the people, & all that is the natural world. I’m a christian, I don’t understand everything, but believe I’m a spirit having a human experiance. Love life, seeing life, though this isn’t everything there is. Willing to listen, but it doesn’t mean I agree with all I hear. Believe we all have a right to our opinions-ideas-customs-beliefs. BUT NOT THE RIGHT to impose them on others by force. Wether it be physical-legal- or just plain sneeky means. Be up front, respectful, open, and cautionary. I truly enjoy all the pigeons and the folks I’ve met who enjoy them too.

I dont do alot with the birds but im happy for my husband too have a hobby,there really his love not mine,but i will help out when needed..If anybody ever has too pick up the coin im always more than happy too pick it up and spend it..In saying that we all no theres never alot of that on offer..
Usually i will toss the birds so my husbands home too let them in,or if hes at work i will let them out for a fly..Make sure they have water and enjoy waiting for them too come home for a race..
So in saying that i too like Chris (hope i can call u Chris) am a normal person that races pigeons and find that it takes some of my time in life…

To those that care and for those that don’t I couldn’t care I’ve had pigeons since I was able to hold one my first pigeon was a BLUE TEAGER FLIGHT then I started keeping Canadians because they stayed flying for a long time. I had about 800 flights and 400 Tiplets, My first homer was a grizzle homer I still miss that bird he was the smartest bird I ever own. When I moved down here to FLORIDA I took my best Flights and Tiplets I still have the same blood line that I flew in the BRONX,New York of course the birds got old and past away happy. I have about 400 pigeons now about 60 tiplets and 340 racing homers,It has always been a hobby until 2003 when I joined an Au pigeon club now I’m in the sport and race young and old birds I’ll be doing this until I die hope that I’m remembered for all the good pigeon times that we had.

hey PETA guys! you don’t know anything about our sport so cut the crap!!!even the poorest people here in the Philippines specially in the slums keep pigeons and these people make a decent way on how to make a living with the help of our feathered friends,pigeons give them hope,happiness,and guess what? these young flyers here are being taught of respect,responsibility,humility and you PETA guys,what will you teach these youngsters? PETA i challenge you to come here in the PHILIPPINES and see what i’m talking about!!!!!!PETA PETA PETA cmon!!!analyze first before you do your thing!!!
What a joke! PETA I mean, LOL! If a person can’t even have a loft of pigeons then what is the world coming to? The PETA people need to leave honest, working people alone or get the heck out of this country! Last I checked we are in the U S of A! That means FREEDOM to have a loft of birds,dog,cat,horse ect. ect. Leave us alone PETA, mind your own business GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

I feel dealing with Mike Tyson you will get publicity. PETA is taking an oppurtunity for some publicity. My pigeon loft is cleaner then some resturants. Not to mention PETA should be after them chinese resturants that feed cats. Or make a dent to the whale wars. Or China selling animal skins in the USA for furs.PETA must be running out of donations. Ingrid Newkirk must be broke.
