Over the past few days we have discussed Bob prisco’s feed and medication program for his young birds during weaning, settling & loft flying and road training. If you missed those articles you can read them by clicking the links below.

You guys sent me alot of questions asking why Bob uses bleach and why he medicates so much, so I asked Bob if he could give us some insight on his young bird feed and medication programs. You can read his response in blue below.
Hi Chris
The article was written for Taiwan racing and the birds here must fly a 7 race series – 1 race every 7 days and make a minimum speed for each race. They start with 7000 birds the first week and fly each week until only as few as 1 -50 birds are left.
We must medicate to keep the birds healthy and ready to compete each week – they race for 1 million our money so a lot is at stake.
Look at a few of the commercial breeders here in the states and see what they recommend each week ( mike g.) for medication. NO CHAMPION LOFT CAN COMPETE EACH WEEK WITHOUT MED. ANYBODY THAT TELLS YOU DIFFERENT IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH.
Do we like to use the med’s?… no, but that is the only way you can stay competitive when you fly against 3-7000 birds each week.
Bleach or any other disinfectant is necessary in Taiwan racing.
I do not sell or make money from any of the products we use – that is what we do and our record speaks for itself- your readers or any other person can look at the information and pick and choose for themselves as what they want to do. When American fanciers import birds from other countries they also import all the problems from that country as well.

Hi Wilbert do you have good birds are your birds sick all the time is your loft drafty Brad.
Hi Cliff Alister Murray is right to much medication is a bad thing. Its like this if you buy birds from someone the medicates a lot and you don’t do the same thing with his birds you will have problems.
If you need it use it you don’t go to your Dr for a preventive so why do that to your pigeons.
Brad.
Bob Prisco is right when you race every week straight you cannot do without medication your bird will easily fall apart and cannot home everyweek , no.1 causes is the drinker many bird drink from it , no. 2 crowded in the truck bird give off too much heat and the spread of diseases , but Bob medication is too early and with the use of bleach , for me I just follow the system of oropharma one month before race start . that’s all it work too but you cannot turn weak pigeon to a healthy one.
Hi Chris
Thanks for a wonderful site to read about what is going on in the pigeons sport all over the world . I am from South Africa and also the owner and manufacturer of SUPER HERB PIGEON products . Some time back I was what they call a muti king and did know all about antibiotics and treated randomly with antibiotics each week , twice where permitted . Then my wife become ill and of to the hospital she goes , what was a stomach buck ended in her gallbladder been removed . WHY ? All the antibiotics they fed her in hospital damaged her liver and end up in the gallbladder .
So that was when I started to think what actually can happen to our racing pigeons and what I have done to my own young birds – as I only keep young birds in my loft ( because they don’t perform as old birds ) . I started investigating herbal medication and find that there were a big gap to completely take care of our birds with the products available on the market . Me and my partner started experimenting with some herbal mixtures and ended up with a whole range that take care of our birds from breeding to racing season . Two years in a row he is our union champion and in this two years he did use antibiotics only three times during wild outbreaks in is loft and then only for one day at a time . For me , my birds never even smell antibiotics again and they were never more healthier than now .
Yes if you don’t have the access to good quality herbal medication there are no choice , but use it careful and don’t over medicate your young . In the hot countries you will not get away with out treating for canker , cocci , malaria , paratyphoid and respiratory diseases . But it keep the label in mind and treat only when needed . Garlic ain’t the only easy herb to use , go to you kitchen and take the cinnamon , basil , parsley , oregano and turmeric . Use it each once a week and see the difference .
Keep it coming
Thanks
Neels
