Ahhhhhh Eyesign!!!…..
it’s one of the biggest debates in our sport. Some absoluely love it and think it’s the best way of evaluating their birds and some absoluetly hate it and think it’s nothing but myth.
Well I wanted to start a discussion and see what your views are on eyesign? post your comments below and share your views on eyesign, share if you have any experience using it and what the outcome was. Is it part of your evaluation process? and if so what do you use it most for, finding racers are breeders?
So go ahead and share you views on eyesign by posting your comments here.
What are your views on eyesign?
Eye sign is good but it takes along time to learn. First if you are going to put a bird in the breeder loft. First. it must have a outstanding body first of all. Second it must have some winners in it’s back ground. Third if it has all of the above then and only then use Eye sign to pair the birds up.
Then let the races tell you if you are doing it right.
I hear people talk about the eyesign of a pigeon and the truth i know nothing at all on a pigeons eye reading. I want to learn all i can about pigeons. Yes i am a new racer and enjoy my birds everyday.
Well i respect all who go by eyesighn.
Me personally are only interested in the blood in the veins(genetic make-up)all that matters is in the blood, but than the outer apearence should also be off value. The eye for me,when bright in color will be off great value in clear weather races.
The duller the eye(light pigmentation)will need very little light to determin its position when weatheris overcast and bad.

I don’t believe that u can c a birds potential from its eye.I’ve seen birds with so called eyesign win & have also seen birds with absolutely no eyesign also win big races.I’ve never seen greyhound dog fanciers look into their eyes to determine whether they will be good breeders or racers, what makes a pigeon that much different from other animals?
eye sign is useless men…the only way to see your birds is to test them..believe me…
Well i do use eye sign but ill let u guys see why….go on youtube…..
“Pigeon eye sign the logic one”
The only thing an eye shows is a the family line it belongs to. So my kids have pretty much the same eyes as me. Look at parents and then their kids eyes. I don’t see professional athletes looking into each others eyes to see if they are good athletes. Some health reflects in the eye as well yes. Oh well, that’s my 2 cents worth. G
there must be something in eyesign because they that seem to breed beter racing pigeons .i got a friend who guided by jack barkel and he doing well at winning races we all dont know what to look for in the eye so good luck to all that understand the eye
Eye sign…….Hummmmm……I dont know much about the subject and dont think i want to…..in my 50 years of raising pigeons, i really didnt think about it much, but i do know that pigeons use their eye and their brains to find theyre way around….they see and they remember…..when i see an eye, i like a pretty one,,,,,after that nothing…i m not an eye doctor, i couldnt tell you weither that eye or this eye is better or worse…..what i do know is that if almond mated to almond, and the young are sometimes white, being pure for almond, there is a very good chance that the young have eye problems…..some have “bladder eye”…… theses cant see….,and others have trouble flying in the loft as their vision is very bad……in the nest, the latter seem to move their heads back and forth trying to see or focus…..these young ususally die as they have trouble feeding themselves……but that is only one color, and that is genetics and and that is another subject……the birds size, body type, condition. etc…..i think that is more important….when i pick up one of my birds , i like to see good eye color, but i like to feel the birds body, see if the birds has that built that i like, i want my hens to feel like hens and my cocks to feel like cocks…….my hands tell me more than looking at eye sign…..but if it helps others with their birds…..more power to them…….but if your new to pigeons…….dont let that be your guide….cause that could get you lost……..have fun with your birds
I am thinking that the best racers will have two good eyes. Now, if one can look inside those eyes and see if the bird is gonna be a BIG race winner, then they should be making most of the money when it comes to pooling, one loft events, auction races, etc. I haven’t see any evidence that is the case, but I do know that many are convinced that they can see things. My eyes tend to glaze over when someone tries to explain the “science” behind it. But hey if it helps them win more races, more power to them !
Boy do i agree with you. I know some of these so called eyesign men. I still have not seen one of them run away and win most of the races
