Here is another great video from Dennis of hawkbait lofts, he shows how he adds garlic to his birds drinking water once per week. He simply takes 4 cloves of ordinary garlic and removes the skin then pokes holes in them ad adds them to one gallon of drinking water. The garlic helps to purify the pigeons blood if you notice your pigeons nose is getting grey the garlic will help turn it back to healthy chalky white, it helps with curculation helping the viens to open and the blood to flow. The garlic also helps in the birds intestinal tract you should also notice that their droppings become firmer.

Your tip with garlic cloves was on the mark,if you do want to use the cloves i find garlic powder, red minerals and brewers yeast on the feed with lemon juice works well also. KEEP UP THE GREAT TIPS—CHARLIE BARBIERE
Yes garlic is good for the birds.I use two cloves to a 1/2 a gal. put two cloves in a blender with two cups of water. Then blend about 30 seconds one day a week.
i realy enjoy the videos , they realy help me with a lot of questions ,thanks terry
The only time my birds don’t get garlic in the water is when I have to treat new birds coming into my loft, treatment would be for worms, canker PMV etc.
I found the easy way is to crush a whole clove into a litre of water, store in the fridge, add a small amount to the water container when needed.
One thing to remember, garlic looses it’s goodness when heated, if buying crushed garlic, make sure heat wasn’t used in the manufacturing proses.
Something else I use to keep my birds healthy that is also natural, is Improver and antifungal, amazing stuff
hi Chris
i was having this problem and was searching for its cure. this video hleped me out of this problem i tried it and got the positive result.
Thanx
I have been using garlic extract that I got from the health store. Seem to work well, with no waiting. Just put 4 drops in a gallon of water. I also add one shot of apple cider vinegar to the gallon. I do that every day, and every few days I add a squirt of local honey.
The birds drink it.
Don’t forget that garlic is also a natural antibiotic, as well as an aid in getting rid of parasites and fungal infections. Another thing it will do, is help get those feathers soft and smooth like silk. Just a great overall supplement. There is a such thing as too much garlic, so once or twice a week will do.
Personally, I prefer adding garlic powder (NOT garlic salt) to the feed with some oil (light olive, etc). I’m just not big on putting things like that in the water, and I feel it’s much easier/quicker to do with the food. If anyone decides to do this instead, keep in mind the mix needs to be used within 24 hours. Any longer and it could get contaminated (and stink up your loft, haha) via the ‘sticky’ oil.
the way we do this is to take 1 percent skin milk and give it to the birds for 24 hours with out any drinking water in the loft, this flushes thier systems out. we then take whole cloves of garlic and bowl them in water eguvlent to fill each “water can” in the loft, we do not live water in open bowals, Garlic turs when lift in water. we then strain the water and allow it to cool to room temp and then give it to the birds for another 24 hours. we then add a cap of clorx to each can of drinikg water there after. we add Cod Liver oil to thier feed mix. thats old school and so far i have not heard any of the fact cat homer flayers telling it like it is. that guy who came up with the cloves of Carlic in open bowls has not got his facts correct, this was a poor mans sport until these guys started dopping thier birds, we build our birds up naturally back in my day.
Didn’t know about the nasal area turning from white to grey. I’ll have to keep an eye for that. Glad to be reminded about the usefulness of garlic for bettering the droppings as well. It had sliped my mind. Garlic going in today. Thanks, Chris
Hello Chris,
Daily read information on the blog, then reread them to deepen the news.
Soon I hope to have pigeons champions.
I want to say that I use in place of olive oil, fish oil for
mixture of food.
Is better, in my opinion!
